Let’s start with the role
We are looking for a highly organized, analytical, and detail-oriented Accounts Payable Specialist to join our Finance team. The AP Specialist will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of vendor invoices, maintaining high-quality accounting records, supporting month-end closing activities, and ensuring compliance with local tax and accounting regulations across our LATAM entities.
This role plays a key part in maintaining the integrity of our financial records by combining strong accounts payable expertise with a solid understanding of accounting principles and regional tax requirements.
As an Accounts Payable Specialist, you will:
- Process and post vendor invoices accurately and within the monthly closing calendar, ensuring they are recorded in the correct accounting period.
- Review invoices for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company policies and local tax requirements before processing.
- Ensure payments are properly recorded in the ERP system and accurately applied to vendor accounts.
- Perform and maintain three-way matching (Purchase Order, Goods Receipt, and Invoice), investigating and resolving discrepancies.
- Apply the appropriate withholding taxes and VAT treatment in accordance with local regulations.
- Maintain accurate vendor master data and ensure supporting documentation is complete and compliant.
- Reconcile Accounts Payable subledger balances with the General Ledger and investigate any discrepancies.
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities related to Accounts Payable.
- Partner with internal stakeholders, including Accounting, Tax, Treasury, and Procurement, to resolve invoice- and payment-related issues.
- Support process improvement initiatives, automation projects, and the implementation of best practices across the Accounts Payable function.
- Assist with internal and external audits by preparing supporting documentation and responding to information requests.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and local accounting and tax regulations.
What you'll bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in Accounts Payable, Accounting, or a similar finance role.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, Accounts Payable processes, and financial reconciliations.
- Experience working with LATAM tax regulations, including withholding taxes and VAT. Experience with Colombian and Argentinian tax regulations.
- Experience using ERP systems such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central , SAP, Oracle, or similar.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Fluency in Spanish and working proficiency in English. Portuguese is considered a plus.
