Let's start with the role
The Accounts Payable (AP) Manager oversees the entire accounts payable process, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of invoices, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring compliance with internal financial policies and controls. This role includes supervising a team of AP specialists, monitoring workflows, improving AP systems, and contributing to the overall financial health of the organization.
As a Accounts Payable Manager, you will:
- Oversee the accounts payable department and ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices, payments and expense reports;
- Resolve vendor inquiries and payment discrepancies promptly;
- Continuously evaluate the AP process and suggest improvements for efficiency and accuracy;
- Implement automation tools and systems to streamline AP workflows;
- Develop and update AP policies and procedures in line with industry best practices;
- Ensure adherence to company financial policies and regulatory requirements;
- Maintain proper internal controls, prevent fraud, and ensure data integrity;
- Provide regular reporting on AP metrics, aging reports, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to senior management;
- Collaborate with other departments (e.g., Procurement, Accounting, Treasury) to ensure proper flow of information and alignment on payment policies;
- Lead bank reconciliation and month-end closing processes and reporting;
- Oversee audit processes, including internal and external audits of accounts payable activities;
- Support global expansion plan by implementing AP operations in new markets;
- Train and develop AP team members, including setting objectives and conducting performance evaluations.
What you'll bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Business;
- Master’s degree in Finance or Business will be considered an asset;
- 5+ years of working experience in a relevant position, ideally in a corporate international environment;
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g Microsoft BC) and AP automation tools is highly desirable;
- Experience with Treasury Management System (Preferably KYRIBA) will be considered an asset;
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, accounts payable processes, and tax regulations;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Greek;
- Excellent computer and Excel skills.
